ALBANY, N.Y. -- Beginning next month, the days of operation at the New York State Museum will change as it will again be open on Sundays. The museum will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning September 16th.

The museum has been closed on Sundays since January 2011 because of financial problems. Officials with the museum say before then, Sundays accounted for about 20 percent of overall attendance. They say the financial situation still requires the museum to be closed one day a week, so they've decided to close it on Mondays.

However, the reading rooms of the State Archives and State Library will still be open to the public on Mondays.
