ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- Thanks to new legislation signed into law by Governor Cuomo, the Albany County Correctional Facility will now be able to house out of state inmates.

Under the new law, they will be able to keep out of state inmates for up to two years. This also means since some states simply don't have the room for all their inmates, Albany County can now contract to board those inmates at a daily negotiated rate, which would provide a consistent revenue stream to the county, estimated to be about $2.4 million per year.
