SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- A memorial was dedicated in honor of a man killed in hit and run in Saratoga Springs during St. Patrick's day celebrations two years ago.

Ryan Rossley was hit and killed in the early morning hours of March 18th, 2010. The driver in the crash, Travis Carroll, pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to five to 15 years in prison. Another man, Jeffrey Hampshire, was convicted of helping Carroll to hide evidence in the crash.

Sunday, a memorial pavilion was dedicated at Schuyler Park in Saratoga. The pavilion is part of the growing soccer park there.

Rossley's friends and family say they wanted to do something to commemorate Ryan's love of sports.

“It's something fun, it's something, Ryan was a fun-loving person, liked a good time and that's what we were looking for. So hopefully, even if they don't know him and never knew him, his name will become symbolic with something good and something fun and something safe,” said Ryan’s mother, Maureen Rossley.

Rossley's family says they're grateful for the support and generosity of the community who donated to help get the pavilion built.
