NEW YORK STATE -- The State Labor Department has released area unemployment numbers for the month of July.
According to the labor department, the unemployment rate for the Albany-Schenectady-Troy region increased in July compared to July 2011. The rate increased .8 percent from 7.2 to 8.0.
The report shows Glens Falls saw a slightly smaller increase in its unemployment rate. In July 2011, the city had a 7.0 percent rate while this past July had a 7.6 percent unemployment rate.
The report also looked at unemployment rates based on the county. Hamilton County had the lowest unemployment rate at 5.3 percent while Bronx County had the highest rate at 13.9 percent.
