COLUMBIA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A little boy is dead after State Police say he drowned at Lake Taghkanik State Park in Columbia County. It happened at the West Beach a little after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say the three-year-old was at the park with family and friends when he became separated from his mother. She reported him missing to lifeguards and they found him unresponsive in the water. The boy was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
