SARATOGA RACE COURSE -- The post positions are now set for the 143rd Travers Stakes. The Mid-Summer Derby which carries a $1 million purse is scheduled for 5:46 p.m. Saturday.

Positions for the 11-horse field were chosen at the track Wednesday morning.

1. Speightscity (30-1)
2. Five Sixteen (15-1)
3. Golden Ticket (20-1)
4. Stealcase (15-1)
5. Street Life (5-1)
6. Alpha (5-2)
7. Atigun (12-1)
8. Neck N' Neck (9-2)
9. Liaison (8-1)
10. Nonios (4-1)
11. Fast Falcon (20-1)

Alpha is the favorite going into the race with jockey Ramon Dominguez. Alpha is owned by Godolphin racing, which was founded by Sheikh Mohammed. We had a chance to catch up with Alpha's trainer.

Kiaran McLaughlin said, "It would be great, really. You feel honored to be working for Godolphin. We've won two Grade Ones and a Grade Two, so it'd be great to see all those jockeys in blue silks out there and the canoes."

Noticeably absent from the field is Hansen. The trainer said the horse has some inflammation in his left front leg and he will be retired.
