ALBANY, N.Y. -- Students at Sage Colleges are starting off their fall semester by giving back to the community. They're cleaning up six parks in Albany to show their commitment to community service in the area.
More than 100 students were joined by Mayor Jerry Jennings as they took part in this year's Sage Engaged. It's the fourth year the program's been running.
The group cleaned, raked and painted park benches. Both faculty and students say they are happy to make a difference.
"The opportunities they have, beginning with this one, to do service does connect them more to the community, it helps them understand how lucky they are and how important it is for them to give back to the community," said Susan Schrim, President of Sage Colleges.
Last year students involved in Sage Engaged showed their commitment by heading out to one park and students say they are happy to take on six parks this time.
