ROTTERDAM, N.Y. -- After 61 years, the Boys and Girls Club of Rotterdam has a new look. The community came out to see the unveiling of the remodeled facility on Friday.
The planning for the rehab project began one year ago, and became a reality over the last seven days when volunteers began construction. Volunteers said they were able to raise nearly $150,000 in donations to complete the project.
"They really stepped up to the plate, I had the vision, these people that worked on this building made it happen. It is going to be great to see these faces on these kids today say 'oh my gosh, look at this brand new building'," said Darlene Zeh, Project Coordinator.
The club is used for educational and recreational programming in the community. It serves more than 1,000 children, hundreds of families, and senior citizens.
