Ron Paul supporters rally outside of RNC

By: Web Staff

The threat of Tropical Storm Isaac has not kept Ron Paul supporters from all over the country to pack a stadium in Tampa. They are there to continue to show their support for the candidate they want to be the next president. YNN's Paul Brown is among the crowd and has more.

TAMPA, Fl. -- Under overcast skies, thousands of Ron Paul supporters made their way to a rally at the University of South Florida.

At the rally in the school’s Sun Dome, about 12 miles north of where the Republican Nation Convention is being held, between five and six thousand of Paul’s supporters gathered to listen to the Libertarian-leaning Republican Texas representative. Paul is expected to speak around 4:00 p.m. EST.

The rally is not an official part of the Republican National Convention, but many in attendance are serving as delegates at the convention.

Ron Paul caught national attention during his bid for the Republican presidential nomination this year. He ran on his message of limited government, personal freedom and strict interpretation of the U.S. Constitution.

Due to Tropical Storm Isaac, organizers of the Republican National Convention made the decision to delay the first full day of activities to Tuesday, one day later than originally planned.
