ALBANY, N.Y. -- Two teens were arrested after police said they were caught breaking into Albany High School over the weekend.
Officers responded to the school on Washington Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday after receiving a call that the alarm had been activated. When the officers arrived, they saw one of the doors to the school was open.
During a search, the officers located David O’Connor, 17, and Taran Shaefer, 18, as they were attempting to flee out the back of the building. They were found with a can of spray paint and New York State scholar athlete pins. Police said a door inside the building had been spray painted, and the pins had been stolen from a coach's office.
The teens were charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief, making graffiti, possession of graffiti instruments, and petit larceny. They were arraigned and sent the Albany County Jail.
