SARATOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The $29 million deck replacement project on the Twin Bridges is scheduled to begin next week.

The rehab project on the northbound bridge will be completed this fall, while work on the southbound bridge will take place next spring.

Beginning September 7th, lanes will be closed for six consecutive weekends, with the exception of Columbus Day weekend. Lane closures will last from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

During the weekend, traffic heading north will cross over onto the southbound bridge, with one lane carrying northbound traffic and one lane carrying southbound traffic. There will be no closures during the week, but New York State DOT officials are warning drivers to expect delays during the weekend and on Route 9.

The DOT plans to use 13 message signs along the Northway, 11 existing traffic cameras and six temporary traffic cameras for drivers to check on traffic conditions.
