BALTIMORE, M.D. -- The Loyola Greyhounds are leaving the MAAC bound for the Patriots League.
The university made the announcement Wednesday. They will play in the MAAC this season and then move for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Of the 24 varsity sports Loyola offers, 16 are in the MAAC. Most notably are the men's and women's basketball. The men's basketball team won the league championship this past season moving on to the NCAA Tournament.
Loyola's move to the Patriot League brings that conference to 10 schools, including Army, Navy, Holy Cross, Bucknell, American, Colgate and Lehigh. Earlier this summer Boston University announced they'd be moving to the Patriot League as well.
