Albany County Health Department confirms first case of West Nile in human

ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Albany County Health Department says it has a confirmed a human case of the West Nile virus.

The health department says the person infected is an adult who is doing well and no other information about the case is being released.

Symptoms of the virus include fever, headaches, body aches and a rash, however, the health department says 80 percent of those infected do not develop symptoms.

The health department is reminding people to take precautions to help prevent the spread of the virus, including using insect repellent, wearing long pants and long sleeves and eliminating standing water sources, which serve as mosquito breeding grounds.
