CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Senator Charles Schumer took this stage Tuesday morning at the Democratic National Convention breakfast and when he brought up the topic of football in New York, he seemed to make a bit of a fumble.

Schumer noted that New York State is home to both the Jets and the Giants, but left out the Buffalo Bills.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz quickly updated his Facebook and Twitter saying "Sen. Schumer leads roll call of NYS's regions and then notes NY is home of Jets and Giants but doesn't mention Bills."

Western New Yorkers upset by Schumer's comments were quick to comment on Poloncarz's status and tweet.

Both the Jets and the Giants actually play in New Jersey and Schumer responded to Poloncarz's tweet saying that was his point.

He wrote "At Mark Poloncarz, you missed my joke. ONLY the Bills play in NYS. That's why I'm working so hard to keep 'em here."

Schumer was in Buffalo last month holding a news conference at Ralph Wilson stadium where he discussed ways to keep the team in Western New York.
