COLONIE, N.Y. -- Candidates for the 110th Assembly District debated Wednesday night. The candidates included Kevin Frazier, Joe Landry, Tim Nichols, Phil Steck and Jennifer Whalen.

One of the questions they were asked was whether or not they would reinstate Sheldon Silver as Assembly Speaker in the wake of the Vito Lopez scandal. Assemblyman Lopez has been accused of sexually harassing several women. Silver authorized a secret payment to one of the accusers, a course of action he's since said was wrong.

All candidates except Whalen said they would have to wait for the Joint Commission on Public Ethics findings before passing judgment on Speaker Silver. Whalen, though, says she wants him out immediately.

In other topics, all candidates said they were opposed to pay raises for legislators. Also, they all want to see an increase in minimum wage and as for hydrofracking, all except Whalen were against it. She claims she would be for it if there was proper regulation and if DEC approved it.
