Police officer facing DWI charges

TROY, N.Y. -- An officer from the Rensselaer Police Department is facing several charges after crashing his vehicle into a construction area in Troy Wednesday.

Police say Daniel Fumarola, 42, of Wynantskill, is facing aggravated DWI, DWI and failure to submit a breathalyzer test charges.

Troy Police say the man struck a water tank in the area of Pawling Avenue and Congress Street.

The Rensselaer Police Department says Fumarola has been placed on administrative leave. He was released on an appearance ticket and arraigned in Troy Police Court Thursday.
