BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. -- Runners are gathering at Ellms Family Farm in Ballston Spa on Saturday for the first ever Hero Rush. The Hero Rush is a firefighter-themed 5K obstacle course, designed by firefighters, to challenge participants from all walks of life.

Runners will have to do things like crawl through a smoke-filled maze, climb ladders, and bust through windows to find victims trapped inside, and drag tires. Organizers said they're excited to be at Ellms Family Farm because this will be one of the first races where they'll be able to spread the obstacles across acres of land.

The event will feature an Inferno Midway, where both runners and spectators can practice their firefighter skills. Many of the proceeds will go to National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, among other charities.
