WILTON, N.Y. -- Brandon Mendelson made CNN's Twitter Power List for racking up almost a million followers. On Saturday, he was in the Capital Region signing copies of his book about social media.

Mendelson was at the Barnes and Noble in Wilton, meeting fans and signing books. He was living in Glens Falls at the time CNN released the Power List. Mendelson said Twitter informed him when he became the most followed, non-brand, non-celebrity, non-media outlet on the information network. Thanks to the site, he said he was able to further spread his message about breast cancer awareness online.

"My lovely ex-wife and I were traveling across America to promote the early detection and prevention of breast cancer, and before I left, Twitter corporate promoted my account. They have promoted in the past, and I told them I was traveling to spread the message, so how about promoting to help spread the word to check early and often, and so they did," explained Mendelson.
