LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. -- The Lake George Park Commission is gathering public input on options for controlling invasive species, such as the Asian clam and spiny water flea. The stage agency is looking at long term ways to keep these species out of Lake George.
According to officials, one strategy they are considering is to make boat inspections and washings mandatory by the lake stewards. They're aiming to release the first draft of their plan by mid-October. The issue has become more urgent since the discovery of the spiny water flea in July.
