SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- The Schenectady City Council will meet tonight to vote on the elimination of five positions in order to help bridge the city's budget gap. The request to eliminate the jobs came from Mayor Gary McCarthy.
Two CSEA street crew leaders, an urban park coordinator, director of parks, and a police command staff person are potentially on the chopping block.
A City Council approval last week sent the layoffs to a vote, which will happen tonight. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
