LATHAM, N.Y. -- A big donation from a local bank will help St. Peter's Hospital fight heart disease. SEFCU presented a $500,000 check to St. Peter's on Monday. The money will help fund the hospital's Cardiac Health and Wellness Program.
The hospital's chief of cardiology says this will double the amount of community screenings they can do for heart disease.
"Actually educate people about their risks, how to prevent their risk, how to determine their risk and how to immediately get on a program or a road map to a better life style, to prevent cardiovascular disease in their life," said Dr. Michael Martinelli, St. Peter’s chief of cardiology.
The check presentation took place at Pepsi Beverages Company in Latham. A handful of Pepsi employees were given screenings.
