GREENE COUNTY, N.Y. -- The State DOT is advising drivers that the bridge carrying Route 23 over the Schoharie Creek in Prattsville has been closed.

The bridge was closed to traffic because of cracking in a steel truss member.

The DOT says they expect the closure to last for several days, possibly longer.

Crews will be on the scene Tuesday to do a thorough structural analysis to determine what repairs are needed to safely reopen the bridge to traffic. In the meantime, drivers are being detoured using State Routes 23 and County Roads 53, 7 and 39.
