AMSTERDAM, N.Y. -- The man arrested in connection with a double homicide in Amsterdam pleads not guilty during his arraignment in Montgomery County Court.

Ivan Ramos, 30, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

A grand jury indicted Ramos last week for the murders of William McDermott, 56, and Cheryl Goss, 46, back in March. The two were found stabbed to death in an apartment on Locust Avenue.

Ramos has been behind bars since the day of the murders for unrelated charges.

His murder trial begins Jan. 22.
