SELKIRK, N.Y. -- The state is hosting another public auction, this one for vehicles you've seen along the Thruway. It's the third auction of its kind this year.
Vehicles, and some equipment, will go to the highest bidder, after he or she pre-registers.
The auction takes place today at the Thruway Authority's Selkirk facility, just off of exit 22 on River Road.
"We've got quite an array of vehicles and it's all used by the Thruway Authority. We've got some State Police vehicles, administrative vehicles, light pickups, administrative vehicles, light dump trucks, a lot of plow equipment, going into the fall, so it will help other municipalities," said Mark Austin, Thruway Authority Director of Equipment Management.
Austin says some of the vehicles have exceeded their useful life, but can still be used for parts.
