Four teens arrested for rash of burglaries

RENSSELAER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Four teens have been arrested in connection with nearly a dozen residential burglaries in Rensselaer County.

James Large, 18, of Valley Falls, Christian Olsen, 17, of Johnsonville, Ethan Dearstyne, 17, of Valley Falls, and John Toomajian, 18, of Brunswick were arrested Wednesday as part of a joint investigation by the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Office, State Police in Brunswick, and the Bennington, Vermont, Police Department. All four are charged with second-degree burglary.

The sheriff's office said the rash of break-ins happened primarily in the Town of Pittstown, but also extended as far as Bennington. In most of the burglaries, high-end jewelry was stolen and then sold at local pawn shops.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Offce at (518) 266-1985 or State Police in Brunswick at (518) 279-4427.
