ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. -- In the race for the newly drawn 44th District, incumbent Senator Neil Breslin easily held off a challenge from Albany County Legislator Shawn Morse for the Democratic Party line.
Breslin is currently serving his eighth term in office representing the former 46th District, covering Albany County.
"I think I’ve worked hard over the 16 years and I've brought honesty and integrity to the Senate. I've worked on policy issues that make the state,” Breslin said.
Morse said, “I wish Neil well. I hope I inspired him to work a little harder and do a little better. Really care about the people and not worry about threats and private investigators. Let's worry about middle class families and I hope that hopefully he'll do that.”
The newly drawn 44th District covers parts of Albany and Rensselaer counties.
