ALBANY, N.Y. -- Albany's 31st annual Lark Fest kicks off on Saturday, but this year the festival will be seeing some changes, including no outside coolers or alcohol. This new policy was made by the Lark Street Business Improvement District in conjunction with the City of Albany.

These new restrictions are similar to the changes that were made this year at Alive at Five and the Tulip Festival. Festival goers will also see much more police presence, with officers located on every corner.

"We really want to control the alcohol consumption at this event. It's about the music, it's about having fun. We're not against having fun at all," said Meghan McGrath, BID Director of Operations. "People can still drink at the bars, they are allowed to bring a cup of beer out in the official plastic cup."

According to organizers, there will be more bands and kid friendly activities to make the event more family friendly.
