TROY, N.Y. -- An overnight fire in Troy destroys a two-story home and sends one man to the hospital. Officials said they received a phone call about a fire at 813 First Avenue around 4:20 a.m. on Saturday.
By the time crews arrived on scene, the building was heavily involved and had spread to nearby garbage. We're told there was an older man in the building, but he had made it out of the building before crews arrived.
According to officials, he was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but there is no word yet on his condition. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but firefighters said the home is probably a total loss.
