COEYMANS, N.Y. -- Police in Coeymans are looking for whoever was involved in a crash where a car went into a building on Sunday morning. Police were called to Route 143 in Coeymans hollow at 7:30 a.m. when someone passing by spotted the SUV inside the structure.

When police arrived, they found the car, but nobody was inside or even nearby. Search dogs and a helicopter were brought in to search the area for anyone who may have been injured, but did not turn up anything. According to officials, there appears to have been at least two people inside the vehicle.

"Basically, by the physical evidence left at the scene, the amount of blood at the scene, inside and outside the vehicle, we believe the occupants may be injured. So, we're asking the public to, if they know anybody that may have been involved in this, to make sure they're okay," said Lt. Cary Thompson, Coeymans Police Department. "They need to contact us, they just need to verify everything is okay, and complete our investigation."

Police have contacted the registered owner, who said he was home at the time and does not know who was driving. They've also checked with local hospital and medical clinics to determine if anyone had come in with injuries consistent with a car accident, but there were none reported.
