ALBANY, N.Y. -- A local nurse celebrates 50 years on the job. Lydia Skiba was treated like royalty for the day, in honor of her 50 years of service at Albany Medical Center.

Skiba was brought to work in a limo Monday morning, where she was treated to a reception. She was also presented with a certificate of recognition and a cake.

"Just humbled and honored to think that, as I said, they are like an extended family. All of them. I love the people I work with. I love my patients. I hear from many families back 20 years ago. I just enjoy with all I do," Skiba said.

Skiba will continue to work full-time as assistant nurse manager of radiation oncology. She joins an elite group of eight Albany Medical Center employees who have served the institution for 50 years or more.
