ALBANY, N.Y. -- An Albany man has admitted to shooting another man last year.
The Albany County District Attorney's office says Maleek Johnson, 20, pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter. Johnson admitted to shooting Ishmael Dowling in July 2011.
Johnson says he shot Dowling while Dowling was driving near the intersection of Third Avenue and Broad Street in Albany. Dowling was shot in his back and crashed his vehicle in the front of a home on Broad Street.
The DA's office says DNA evidence linked Johnson to the murder weapon. He's expected to be sentenced to 18 years in prison, followed by five years of post release supervision.
