ALBANY, N.Y. -- The new downtown Albany parking permit ordinance will begin later than originally scheduled. That's according to Albany Common Councilman Richard Conti. He says it now won't go into effect until November.
Previously, the ordinance was scheduled to be enforced beginning October 1st.
Under the ordinance, a car can't be parked for more than two consecutive hours a day between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays within the permit area.
A parking permit would cost residents $25 and any vehicle parked in violation would get a $45 ticket. No specific date has been set for November.
