Water department to flush hydrants in Rensselaer

RENSSELAER, N.Y. -- The Rensselaer City Water Department will be flushing hydrants throughout the city from September 24 through September 28.

City officials said users may experience temporary discoloration and reduced water pressure. They recommend residents avoid washing clothes during this time.

The flushing is being done to remove sediment and to locate non-working hydrants and valves.

Flushing schedule - 6 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Monday, September 24: All hydrants from southern City line north to Columbia Turnpike on both sides of railroad tracks.

Tuesday, September 25: All hydrants from Columbia Turnpike north to Partition Street on both sides of railroad tracks.

Wednesday, September 26: All hydrants from Partition Street north to McNaughton Ave from Broadway east to the Eastern City line.

Thursday, September 27: All hydrants from McNaughton Ave north to I-90 from Broadway to Tenth Street.

Friday, September 28: All hydrants from I-90 to the Northern City line.
