NEW YORK -- Congressman Chris Gibson holds a 16-point lead over Democratic challenger Julian Schreibman in the race for the newly drawn 19th Congressional district, according to a new poll from the Siena Research Institute.

According to the poll, 52 percent of likely voters said they would pick Gibson, compared to the 36 percent who said they would pick Schreibman.

An Ulster County prosecutor, Schreibman is most popular in Ulster and Dutchess Counties. In those counties, he trails Gibson by just two points.

But would-be voters largely favor Gibson by a large margin in every other part of the district.

The newly drawn 19th district includes all of Ulster, Greene, Delaware, Columbia, Sullivan, Otsego and Sullivan Counties, as well as parts of others.
