ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Ronald McDonald house picks up a $25,000 donation from the Amazing Gracie's Gift Foundation. A Mohawk family created the foundation after they lost their daughter Gracie to liver cancer in January.
The money will be used to build a new room at the facility that will be named in the little girl's honor. The Lawton's said they're happy to help the house expand because they said they know how much families rely on staying there.
"Her name will live on here forever, and just knowing we're giving back to them, you know, if we didn't stay here, if they didn't open the doors for us, we would have been commuting back and fourth each day," said Geoff Lawton, Gracie's father. "One of us staying in the hospital, one of us staying home with Luke, and it would have taken a financial toll."
