Schoharie County getting FEMA grants to reimburse for Irene cleanup
SCHOHARIE, N.Y. -- Two grants are on the way to Schoharie County to help cover costs of recovery following Tropical Storm Irene.
The $2.5 million in grants will come from FEMA to reimburse the county for cleanup costs.
Irene caused severe damage to the county's public roads which cost more than $3 million to remove debris and repair.
The first grant provides more than $1.4 million to repair damages on County Road 19A. The second grant includes more than $1 million to repair damage along Bear Ladder Road.
