TROY, N.Y. -- A car collides with a police patrol car on Fifth Avenue in Troy. Police said it happened at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Ferry Street.

They said the officer was driving a marked patrol vehicle with the siren and lights on when another car crossed over, and hit the police car, causing it to slam into porch steps. The driver of the other vehicle was a 70-year-old man from Troy. A third vehicle also had minor damage.

The officer was taken to Samaritan Hospital and the 70-year-old was taken to Albany Med, both for non-life threatening injuries. Police said the investigation is ongoing and no tickets were issued.
