ALBANY, N.Y. -- A long-serving member of the Albany Fire Department marks his final day on the job on Saturday. Lieutenant Bill Groat has been a firefighter in Albany for past 33 years.

Most recently, he worked out of the Engine 9 Station on Delaware Avenue. He said he will miss getting up and coming into work every day.

"Every day is a different day, helping people. You get done, you feel great, knowing that you helped your fellow neighbor," said Groat. "Wish I could stay on until whenever, but obviously as you get older, it's just a little bit tough to get up in the morning and do the same job as you did 20, 30 years ago."

Groat said one of his most memorable moments on the job happened soon after he started working for the fire department, when he saved a man who had two heart attacks just months apart.
