CAPITAL REGION -- College football teams throughout the Capital Region will be getting back to work this week in preparation for next weekends games. It was almost a clean sweep for UAlbany, Union, and RPI this past weekend.
In Albany, the Great Danes won their game against Monmouth with a score of 55-24. UAlbany improves to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in the Northeast Conference. The win also accounted for their 250th win for the varsity program. Their next game is at Bryant University on Saturday at noon.
In Schenectady, Union won their game over Springfield College pretty convincingly. Their 49-21 victory earned them their second win of the season. The Dutchmen ran for 353 yards and forced eight fumbles on defense. Their next game is at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
And finally, RPI fell just short of a win against Merchant Marine. The Engineers were unable to secure a late game on-side kick and eventually lost 31-34. It's their first loss of the season and their now 3-1. Their next game is at home against Saint Lawrence University this Saturday at 1:00 pm.
