MENANDS, N.Y. -- One of the three pit bull puppies mutilated and left for dead on railroad tracks in Albany last month is getting some much-needed help.

The puppy, named Hudson, was fitted Monday morning for a new prosthetic paw after his paw had to be amputated.

The pup, along with his companion, Pearl, are the surviving two puppies.

A veterinary surgeon said he felt Hudson was a good candidate for the procedure.

Dr. Tom Bowersox said, "I think this dog is basically going to be a normal dog if this prosthetic works as well as it should. We are going to have to make a couple different kinds. There is going to be a temporary one on so while Hudson is growing we can adjust the length of the limb, and once at full size, we will fit again to get a permanent prosthetic that will work the rest of his life."

The mold being built will then be sent to a prosthetic company in Canada.

A $7,000 reward is still being offered for any information on who abandoned and abused the pups.
