TROY, N.Y. -- The man Troy police say killed a baby in his care pleaded guilty Monday. Robert Hayden, 29, admitted to killing 21-month-old Avery Cahn in January.
Police say Avery was found dead in his playpen in his mother's Griswold Heights apartment. They say Avery was alone and Hayden was suppose to be watching him.
In February, Hayden was charged with first degree manslaughter and second degree endangering the welfare of a child. He faces 25 years in state prison and five years post release.
Hayden is scheduled to be sentenced on October 25th.
