TROY, N.Y. -- National Grid officials are expected to meet with Troy city engineers sometime today to discuss a cable malfunction that caused a manhole cover to dislodge. The incident happened late last month on 5th Avenue between Federal and Jacob streets. As a result, the old Hadley Building lost power for a little while. Troy police say there were no injuries or damage.

This meeting comes after National Grid officials met with Albany mayor Jerry Jennings on Monday to discuss two underground fires that affected many people and businesses in the downtown area last month.

The first fire on September 19th that blew manhole covers into the air, causing several businesses, streets and offices to shut down. That fire was blamed on a frayed power line.

A smoking manhole cover caused 2,000 people in Arbor Hill to lose power last week. A transformer was to blame for that incident.
