"Fall in Love With New York Wines" campaign kicks off Tuesday
New York State ranks second in the country for wine consumption, but from the Finger Lakes to Long Island, a new campaign is urging New Yorkers to choose local when filling up your glass. Our Beth Croughan has more.

ALBANY, N.Y. -- "Hundreds. How about that. There's 271 wineries in the State of New York," said Sven Salnitis as he stands near shelves stocked with New York State Wine.
The wine educator at Exit 9 Wine and Liquor in Halfmoon said they've got their reach on the different regions.
"We have almost something from everywhere. Whether it's Long Island, Hudson, the Finger Lakes, we have that wine from that region," he explained.
And in the store hangs a sign of support created by "The Last Store on Main Street" coalition. Tuesday, the organization founded by a New York City retailer, unveiled its newest campaign.
"Fall in love with New York Wines. You see in the posters here. We also have a nice holiday promotion right after the fall promotion that's coming up," said Tom Edwards of the New York State Liquor Store Association.
The promotion aims to encourage people to "pop the cork" on wines made in the third largest producing state.
"Quite frankly, that doesn't happen as often as it should right now," said State Senator Cathy Young.
Senator Young applauded the private sector effort aimed at helping boost the $400 million a year business. This week's announcement comes on the heels of one made by Governor Cuomo. He plans to hold a Wine and Beer Summit later this month.
"We've seen him do it with the yogurt industry. And really, what he's looking at are areas of economic growth in the state. This helps upstate New York so much, but actually it helps the entire state," said Senator Young.
And this is a market industry officials call "the state's best kept secret." But it's a secret they want to spill.
"We should really do what we can to codify it and make it even more successful than it is today," said Edwards.
