SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The city of Saratoga Springs received some national recognition. The American Planning Association named Broadway on the list of Top 10 Great Streets for 2012.

The list specifically points out the section of Broadway between Van Dam and East Congress Streets. The area used to be known for a number of vacant store fronts, but now it is known for its beauty and architecture. Saratoga Springs Mayor Scott Johnson said the city has come a long way because of the citizens that got together and formed a public-private partnership.

"They put together a plan of action if you will, how to revitalize the city, bring back not only its former splendor, but again, to grow upon that, and plan for the future," explained Mayor Johnson.

The American Planning Association began the Great Places in America Program back in 2007.
