RENSSELAER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A county fraud sweep leads to ten arrests in Rensselaer County. One of the arrested, a Poestenskill man, sheriff's deputies say took more than $43,000 of benefits he wasn't entitled to.
Officials say nearly $150,000 in total was taken from public assistance programs. They say the funds stolen range from more than $1,900 to $43,000.
Those arrested are facing a range of charges from offering a false instrument for filing to welfare fraud and grand larceny.
