MONTGOMERY COUNTY, N.Y. -- Montgomery County's Meals on Wheels program may be in serious jeopardy.
Funding for the Office of Aging has been cut from county treasurer, Shawn Bowerman's, proposed 2013 budget. Bowerman tells us the nearly $200,000 cut will likely affect the office's Meals on Wheels program.
The preliminary budget also cut funding for the Cornell Cooperative Extension and includes a three percent tax increase with no layoffs.
Bowerman said, "The most difficult thing is we had to fill a $5 million budget gap, because last year, our fund balance was $4.9 million and this year, it was $1.3, so it was finding extra revenue sources and making expense cuts."
The county board has until December 20th to adopt a budget.
