HALFMOON, N.Y. -- Weekend construction work on the Twin Bridges is on hold for Columbus Day weekend.

The project has taken place over the past month with the northbound lane being closed Friday night through the weekend.

Governor Cuomo announced last week that work on the bridge will end Sundays at noon so traffic heading back south on Sunday nights won't be backlogged.

Construction will resume next Friday night.

The project will continue until the end of October.

Work on the other side of the project will begin in the spring.
