SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- One man is facing second degree murder charges on Saturday morning, following a shooting in Schenectady. According to police, Terrel Bethea, 28, shot a man several times around 2:30 p.m. in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood on Friday.
Officers said a 43-year-old man was shot several times in front of a home on Schenectady Street. The victim underwent surgery at Ellis Hospital, was transferred to Albany Medical Center, and later died from his injuries.
According to officers, Bethea turned himself in within 30 minutes of the shooting. Police are still looking into a motive but said this was a targeted shooting.
"I don't think it was a random incident, so the safety of the public is still intact. And, everyone that we're looking for is in custody," said Sgt. Adriel Linyear, Schenectady Police.
The victim's name has not been released.
