GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- Souped Up on Guilderland brings hundreds of people out to Altamont Orchards on Saturday. Soup lovers first indulged in soups and stews from local restaurants, and than voted for their favorite.

The sixth annual soup-off cost $7 at the door, and supports different programs in the Guilderland School District, including the school's athletic department. According to organizers, after seeing cuts in the school's budget, they are proud to show their support at a fun event that brings the community together.

"We're having a silent auction, and all the proceeds go to the elementary school PTAs, and the athletics programs that were cut in the Guilderland schools," explained Kathy Burbank, Guilderland Chamber of Commerce.

Several area restaurants took home awards from the soup off. Capital District Catering won for Best Chili. YNN's JoDee Kenney emceed the event.
