SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Police say three people jumped a Schenectady High School student and tried to steal his iPhone near the school.

Police charged Jalen McKain, 16, with second degree attempted robbery, a felony. They say the victim fought McKain and two others to keep his phone after they assaulted him. That victim was unharmed.

McKain is being held in city lockup.
